Japan’s WhatsApp will launch its own crypto currency

Line Corporation, which operates Japan’s largest messaging service, is about to obtain a license for its own crypto currency, much like the announcement from Facebook about Libra earlier this month.

FSA, the japaneese financial authority, may grant the company a license already this month, and then the currency can be launched after just a few weeks.

According to the data, the new currency will be called Bitmax and allow trading with other crypto currencies such as Bitcoin.

Line Corporation’s share price jumped just over 4.5 per cent before it backed slightly to close plus 1.5 per cent.
